Mathematical Art” Contest (NCC) is a math contest designed for
students of Grades 3 to 10 as a warm-up for the Canadian Math
Contests. The contest is named after the Chinese ancient
classic book "The Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art". NCC
2019 is organized by Grand River Chinese School, co-organized
and sponsored by Confucius Institute in Waterloo, and
sponsored by Canadian Mathematical Society.
NCC began
in 2008, and since then, attendees of NCC have achieved a lot
of distinctive honours in various other Canadian math
contests, and have been listed 558 times on their honour

The 12th Nine Chapters on the
Mathematical Art Contest (NCC19)
Co-organized and sponsored by Confucius
Institute in Waterloo, and sponsored by Canadian Mathematical
Society, Grand River Chinese School will host "The 12th Nine
Chapters on the Mathematical Art Contest (NCC19)" on Nov. 23,
2019, 2:30pm to 4:00pm. Students
achieving outstanding results in the contest will receive
awards and certificates in 5 separate age groups (winners of
grade
3 and grade 4 will be separately awarded).
NCC19 is a math
contest designed for students of Grades 3 to 10 as a warm-up
for the Canadian Math Contests (Thales Contest for Grade 3,
Byron-Germain Contest for Grade 4, Fibonacci Contest for Grade
5, Pythagoras Contest for Grade 6, Gauss Contest for Grades 7
and 8, Pascal Contest for Grade 9, and Cayley Contest for
Grade 10). The NCC is named after the Chinese ancient classic
book "The Nine Chapters on the Mathematical
Art" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Chapters_on_the_Mathematical_Art).
During
2008 to 2018, NCC has tested 945 participants, many of them
further wrote various Canadian math contests, and have been
listed on honour rolls of those contests for 568 times
including 118 times of golden standards, gold, silver and
bronze medals, perfect scores, national and regional
champions.
Participating in NCC19 is free. Local students
who were born in 2004 to 2011 are eligible. Students from
other areas may also attend if they are able to travel to
Waterloo for the contest. To sign up for this contest, you
need to submit registration form here by Oct. 31.
